Spain's S-80 is 80.8 metres long with a submerged displacement of about 2,965 tonnes; the German-Italian Type 212A, 56 metres and about 1,830. The S-80 is almost 25 metres longer and around 60% heavier, sized for longer ocean patrols, while the 212A was born for shallower waters such as the Baltic.
